'This scheme to the Island..'   Written by Mandy N (1/26/2010 9:56 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The island..., penned by MarianneR
Are you new?

My impression is Mrs Craven invited Frank's wife, Mary to join her on holiday, probably on the Isle of Wright - and Jane's mother may also go... 'I have been kindly pressed to stay longer here, in consequence of an offer of Henry's to take me back... in September.' Again, Jane is dependent on a brother for travel, but can stay at Godmersham a few months.
She may, however, have preferred to be home in the July.

* Frank Austen had rented the house in Castle Square with a view across Southampton Waters of the Isle of Wright.
I am unsure if JA visited the Isle; but she mentions the Isle of Wright in Mansfield Park.
I'd like to think she was included in the holiday arrangements- someone may have a better idea.
