Edward's adoptive mother, yes   Written by kathleen (elder) (1/26/2010 7:25 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mrs. Knight -, penned by MarianneR
Are you new?

Mrs Knight (abbreviated to Mrs K in the letters) is Edward's adoptive mother.

According to Valerie Grosvenor Meyers (in her bio of JA), White Friars was a house, "formerly an Augustine Friary dating back to 1325." The house is no longer there; on that location today is an urban shopping centre in Canterbury.

I assume Mrs K didn't live w/ Edward & his family because she wanted her own place -- and she may not have wanted to live w/ all those children. :-) When you own several homes & can afford the upkeep, why not make use of them?
