So much for my lovely scenario, then. ;-) But now I really don't understand why a *toddler* would be "violently breaking out", or why that would keep her from coming downstairs after dinner. (Though wouldn't she be going to bed fairly soon after dinner anyway, depending on how fashionably late they ate at Godmersham?)
