There should be a list of abbreviations   Written by kathleen (elder) (1/25/2010 5:40 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, All those Annes, Marys and Louisas..., penned by MarianneR
Are you new?

If you have the Le Faye edition, there is a list of abbreviations just before the notes at the back. FWA = Francis William Austen & EAK = Edward Austen Knight, for example, two of JA's brothers.

There are family trees in several books BUT you can find one in the Jane Info pages here at Pemberley. That should help you a little bit.

I do agree that the names get a bit confusing, but I find that I start to figure everyone out with just a little bit of digging. AND feel free to ask here as well.
