I felt really bad for her when reading this. And I imagine it was not the first time nor the last that she had to go through it. For me, it highlighted two things---what it was like for any woman in this era and, more so, what it was like to be a woman of little means with no husband in this era. This brings to mind something I would like to say about Charlotte which I will post on the P&P Board.
