Understanding Each Other   Written by Robbin (1/24/2010 4:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Conversaton on paper, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

I think the conversation, in-jokes and odd disjointed comments show the intimacy of Jane and Cassandra’s relationship. They knew what the other was talking about! No need to remind the other of what was said before. I often wish I knew just what exactly Jane is responding to in her letters. I cannot help it but the comment “Lady Catherine is Lord Portmore’s daughter” immediately made “Miss Morton is Lord Morton's daughter” (S&S) pop into my head although I feel certain Jane was not speaking in anger or bitterness to Cassandra as Mrs. Ferrars did to dear Marianne. Barbara great point about how epistolary novel letters and real letters are so very different. (:D)
