Anna may've cut her hair a French style, perhaps ala Titus; seen in some English and French fashion prints in 1810s'.
However fashionable, Anna's new hairstyle does not appear to have impressed the family !

Maggie Lane comments Anna in her teenage years was rather wild and cut her hair short; but she and JA were very close.
