There's a lot going on in this letter. It not only includes leaving London, but stops along the way, arrival at Godmersham and some of the early activities once there.

Mrs. Knight, Edward Austen's adoptive mother, had let Edward take over the large estate of Godmersham, in which she had a life interest at the death of her husband, and moved to a smaller home (White Friars in Canterbury).
