You have given us a treasure   Written by Robbin (9/21/2007 1:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Letter 38:Facsimiles and Topaze Crosses., penned by JulieW
Are you new?

I enjoyed the facsimile of Letter 38. It is nice to think of Jane putting those words to paper. I can only read parts of it myself and so must always be grateful to those who were able and kindly put all its treasures in print for all to see.

Miss Holder and I adjourned after tea into the inner Drawingroom to look over Prints & talk pathetically. She is very unreserved & very fond of talking of her deceased brother & Sister, whose memories she cherishes with an Enthusiasm which tho’ perhaps a little affected, is not unpleasing.

I liked Jane’s description of Miss Holder because she can be so scathing about people, Jane might have made more of affected sensibilities in one without the pleasing regard for her poor siblings Miss Holder exhibits. I feel a compliment from Jane, is a compliment indeed.

Overall, I think Letter 38 was written in a happier tone than the others of this group read. I can only hope that since Cassandra is due to arrive in Bath soon Jane will not suffer a reverse--at least it pleases me to think so. (:D)
