Jane's personal treasure...   Written by Mandy N (9/21/2007 6:51 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Letter 38:Facsimiles and Topaze Crosses., penned by JulieW
Are you new?

Again, I can only wonder at JA's neat, straight lines and the 'chequered' style of writing letters.

In a Letter Group Read where Jane appears to have lost so much- her Hampshire home; books, music and pictures and one part of the family is enriched at the expense of the other; it's nice to end with some personal items of Jane's - her letters and the beautiful topaz crosses from Charles.
Charles seems a generous, thuoghtful brother. Tomalin comments he loved his sisters dearly (196). Bless him for sharing his bountry with them and risking a scolding from Jane. ;)
Seemingly different to James Austen.

Well, Jane & Cass. always had their Letters, and even James couldn't take away Jane's propensity for writing nor her pen.

Always intesting to see fascimiles of JA's own Letters and a lovely picture of the topaz crosses. Jane must've cherished Charles' gift as it inspired her for MP.
Thankyou for the bounty of info. Julie.
