Jane's early weeks in Bath..

in consequence of the missive, Letter 36: Drunkeness in Bath, penned by JulieW
(Letter 36) Jane at the Uppper Roooms- ' and I am proud to say that I have a very good eye at an Adulteress, for tho' repeatedly assured that another in the same party was the She, I fixed upon the right one from the first...'. Here, I'm unsure if Jane felt bored, mildly diverted; or jokes with Cassandra. Later, 'Another stupid party last night; perhaps if larger they might be less intolerable, but here there were only just enough to make up one card table , with six people to look over & talk nonsense to each other' She refers to the three old Toughs who came in to play Whist with her uncle. Tomalin comments Jane's letters during her first weeks in Bath suggest she was struggling against low spirits. Bath itself was
Despite the kindness shown by her uncle and aunt, I think Jane may've felt dull and homesick for home and friends in Hampshire.
