Lovely poem by James L-P   Written by Mandy N (9/19/2007 9:27 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Letter 35: The Leigh Perrots., penned by JulieW
Are you new?

... he must've truly loved his wife to share her incarcertaion in the Gaol-keeper's house.
Regardless of her faults, I can admire Aunt Jane L-P for turning down Mrs Austen's offer of Jane or Cassandra as companion when in the gaol-keeper's house.
Indeed, these are lovely portaits of husband & wife;
Jane Leigh-Perrot appears a most fashionable lady... I'll be interested to see if she's any influence on Jane or Cassandra regarding dress & leisurely activities in Bath.

I don't recall any picture of their house Scarlet in Berks. Although reduced in grandeur, I'm glad it still exists !
