"Every line inclined too much towards the north-east."   Written by Reeba (9/17/2007 3:57 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, What do we think of James and Mary?, penned by JulieW
Are you new?

Letter 31; James writing a letter to Edward when dining at Steventon.

Maybe I am prejudiced, but I think JA is trying to point out to Cassandra the happy spirits James is in.
Don't the graphoanalysts say that this is an indication of a happy spirit? (lines inclining southeast show depression).
Or perhaps I am seeing too much.

I didn't understand the part about scratching out the first line of every page he wrote, but since JA made a point of mentioning it I feel it means something.
