It's hard to look past his poor attention to little Anna following his marriage to Mary. And I can't abide Mary's jealousy of Anne (James's first wife) and Eliza: "[I]t was noticed in the family that to the last days of her life, Mary continued to dislike and speak ill of Eliza" (A Family Record, p. 100).
