...and I'm not all that fond of Mary. While I assume that George Austen went voluntarily into retirement, I cannot help but feel that James hustled him out of the rectory while grabbing as much stuff as he could get for himself: The horse going to Deane before the Austens leave for Bath, the pictures James gave away, keeping so much of the library without suitable payment. Grrr!
