Poor Mr Steele.   Written by Mandy N (9/17/2007 8:58 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Letter31: Prepare yourself for something very dreadful....., penned by JulieW
Are you new?

A barbaric murder...no wonder if Martha Lloyd was shocked.
I don't know if Mr Steele was a well known businessman - the way Jane refers to Steele's Lavender Water suggests to me his product was well known.
I wonder if many of Mr Steele's customers or Londoners were shocked by his murder...

The name 'Steele' reminds me of the passage in S&S when Anna Maria was scrtached by a dress pin ;

'the wound was bathed with lavender-water by one of the Miss Steeles,'

Quite a contrast to brutal headblows inflicted on Mr Steele !
