JA’s ability connect references to literature, history, events, etc. to everyday life in this amusing way—so much is chuckle-worthy and shows the depth of her knowledge so unpretentiously. Of course displaying her knowledge was not her intent but I find her Letters loaded with it regardless. I agree with Barbara B that her Letters were entertainment and JA’s particularly must have been a joy to receive then just as they are a joy for us to read today. ;D Thanks so much for the reference JulieW! :D
