The Lloyds, the Fowles and the Austens.   Written by JulieW (12/2/2006 8:56 a.m.)
Are you new?

I think it's interesting to note that these clerical families were a very close knit set.

Mary Lloyd, sister to Jane's friend Martha married James Austen in 1797,becoming his second wife.

Cassandra was due to marry poor old Tom Fowle of the Kintbury clerical family, but sadly he died prematurely .

Eliza Lloyd( elder sister to Martha) married Tom's brother, the Reverend Fulwar Craven Fowle.

And of course, after residing with Mrs Austen, Cassandra an Jane at Chawton,Martha became Frank Austen's second wife in 1828.

These families lived in a geogrpahical area of (I'm guessing )a 30 mile radius, and intermarried with as much abandon as the gnnetry families.

I just thought it might be worth while pointing out this information ;-)
