The name 'The Crown' rings a bell ;)   Written by Reeba (12/1/2006 2:19 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Basingstoke Balls, penned by JulieW
Are you new?

Could the balls have been held there too, I wonder, since William Wilson was it's Landlord.

The whole description of the ballroom at 'the inn' sounds like the 'do' at The Crown in Highbury.

But I agree with you that Town Hall does seem a more likely spot, amd the other place was perhaps where the locals went - sort of a Highbury gathering or even a Meryton one.

Just imagine - I am beginning to recognize all these names; Heathcotes and Chutes etc.
GR is the best help in all this general confusion of names.
Thanks Julie :)
