The land the Austen's farmed with the assistance of their farm manager John Bond, said to be the "inspiration" for the character of William Larkins ,Mr Knightley's farm manager in "Emma".

And yes,you are correct Line: Mr Austen is dissapointed as his income is not going to be what he wished/forecast.
