..the one linked to from last year, all regarding the real story of the Harwoods. Julie, you have done first rate work!

But I think there's one more aspect of this which I have not seen mentioned, which makes it even more wonderful, i.e., that there is more than a passing resemblance between, on the one hand, Mr. Harwood, the marine without a lot of money, marrying Miss Scott inadvisedly, and, on the other hand, Mr. Price, the marine without a lot of money, marrying Miss Frances Ward inadvisedly, and then living in Portsmouth (albeit with a lousy servant, as opposed to none at all!).

Given that in this very same letter as the reference to Kotzebue's play, which the thread from earlier today clearly establishes is being alluded to in Emma and MP in different ways, it is somehow fitting that this same letter would also be part of the background of MP.
