I dont think Mrs Martin would be thought of Written by JulieW (11/30/2006 2:41 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, This Section..., penned by BarbaraB

as "Upper Class"....

According to the entry in the Biographical Index to Le Faye's edition of The Letters, Mrs Martin was

probably Mary Martin who was the landlady of the Maidenhead Inn and also held the Excise office at Basingstoke.
