This section caught my particular notice also. I guess I was somewhat startled as I had never really thought about the upper classes having their things repossessed/possessions seized (other than their homes) at this point and time. Somehow I always pictured them as being able to work things out even if it meant selling and/or moving down a step or two like the Dashwoods. Hopefully, Mrs. Martin will be mentioned in a later letter so that we can know what happened to her. One would assume that her brother, at least, would be there to aid her in some way. Her financial troubles, though the causes are different: shades of Sir Elliot?
