Letter 22: Wet wafers, I wonder if?   Written by Deborah Julia (11/29/2006 3:04 p.m.)
Are you new?

Letter 22: Cassandra has sent letters to young Fanny and Edward, the children are delighted. "-Fanny expressd some surprise at the wetness of the Wafers, but it did not lead to any suspicion of the Truth."

In letter 17 it seems little George liked choosing the wafer (a yellow one)for Cassandra's letter. I wonder if on this occassion, Cassandra did not seal her letters with brightly coloured wafers, something the children liked and looked forward to, so Aunt Jane practiced a bit of Auntly deception and subsituted some nice, coloured wafers for the children's benefit and that is why the wafers were wet.

Speculation on my part but what a charming idea it conjures up of Aunt Jane.
