Late to the party   Written by Myretta (11/29/2006 5:52 a.m.)
Are you new?

I'm just catching up on this read. I'd forgotten how much fun the letters are to read. Aside from the wonderful background Julie provides during these reads, I love the sense of Jane Austen as a person and a sister. You can almost hear her as she writes, very personal, very open. I particularly love the differences from one letter to the next. Letter 21, so giddy and full of nonsens.

I do not know what is the matter with me to day, but I cannot write quietly. I am always wandering away into some exclamation or toher. --Fortunately I have nothing very particular to say. We walked to Westonone evening last week, & liked it very much. -- Liked what very much? Weston? --no-- walking to Weston--

... and almost stream of consciousness. Something you would only write to someone who knows you intimately.
