have been quite common to stitch clothes at home especially in small villages like Steventon.

We know Mrs. Price did it.
I doubt there was a seamstress there. Even if present, I don't know why I get the impression that they stitched only gowns, as in Highbury.
OK, I don't know if only gowns were stitched in Highbury ;)

After seeing the beautiful quilt at Chawton cottage, I think they were all indeed very accomplished.

Was it in fashion to have embroidery on shirts? I wonder.
