Allergies is a good answer IMO; having allergies myself I am continually made aware of how they come and go as they please—especially when I foolishly let myself run out of medicine. Poor JA has no such comfort! Allergies also often improve from a change of location so it will be interesting to see if they continue to improve with the next letter. :D
