More funnies…   Written by Robbin (11/26/2006 5:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, LOL lines (and a question), penned by Line
Are you new?

I think this line is also funny:

(danced) ...twice with a Mr. South a lad from Winchester who I suppose is as far from being related to the Bishop of that Diocese as it is possible to be... (Letter 17)

In the notes of the new edition edited by Deirdre Le Faye, the Bishop's name is listed as North. LoL!

Also this thought of events to prevent a dreaded visit, LoL—a little of JA’s Amiable Rancor showing through:

Theo’ has lost his Election at Baliol, & perhaps they may not be able to see company for some time.—They talk of going to Bath too in the Spring, & perhaps they may be overturned in their way down, & all laid up for the summer. (Letter 17)

JA must really dislike them to think of an overturned carriage--LoL! This too has a bit of the Amiable Rancor attached:

One of my gayest actions was sitting down two Dances in preference to having Lord Bolton’s eldest sone for my Partner, who danced too ill to be endured. (Letter 17)

LoL, JA had her limits—I guess we all do but fortunately JA can put it is such a way to be amusing forever. ;D
