Murdered by servant   Written by Joan Ellen (11/26/2006 4:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, LOL lines (and a question), penned by Line
Are you new?

“You express so little anxiety about my being murdered under Ashe Parke Copse by Mrs. Hulbert’s servants, that I have a great mind not to tell you whether I was or not.”

This is one of my favorite lines, quintessential JA! - as are the others you mention.

As with the white fan in the river, I'm guessing that this would more likely refer to a scene from a novel (or perhaps from more than one novel) rather than a common occurence in real life. But that's just a guess.
