only one eye should be infected. I would have thought that because conjuctivitis is so catching it would spread to the other eye as well as to other people.

So perhaps it is because of the cold.
I am thinking of how sometimes one nostril seems to be infected more, and so perhaps the eye on that side got sore too.

I had thought long about this when I first read the letter :D
