Are you new?

Wouldn't Mrs. Knight want to reserve something for herself to live in the style she was used to?

Or was £2000 too much for a woman who was alone?
I wonder what kind of an establishment she had for herself. If it was a grand one she would need this amount.

What was Edward's annual income? Could Godmersham Estate afford this amount to be subtracted from it?
