A slumber party, exactly!   Written by Line (11/26/2006 10:28 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lying awake and talking till two…, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

I was a bit surprised, not so much at JA's description of sharing a bed with her friend Martha in the nursery, but that the nurse and the child slept on the floor, all in “some confusion and great comfort”. It seems more informal and modern (and fun!) than I would have expected (though I hope the nurse and child really *were* comfortable!)

It sounds to me like Jane and Martha took what was usually the nurse's bed, and that the child usually shared a bed with its nurse - no separate bed. (I wonder how old the child was?)
