the reason for thinking it would resemble a 'Fez' was because it was thought to be a the sole 'Turkish' head wear.

There were other headwears ?), and resembled 'this' Indian headwear to which I have provided a link.

Imagine this 'wear' with jewels etc. in keeping with the wealth of the wearer.
