A little more information   Written by JulieW (9/2/2005 1:24 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ahh! Thank you!, penned by Maisy
Are you new?

The account George Austen had with the local furnishing frim in Basingstoke, John Ring and Co, shows that the "cheap" wall paper was blue , the curtains blue striped and the press with its bookshelves was painted a chocoalte colour to match the carpet.

Interestingly, this part of the house now became, according to Le Faye,JAs " study" : she wrote at a greater speed, and she finished writing The History of England on 26th November 1791.

( apropos of nothing:wasn't 26th November the date of the Netherfield ball? )
