a very intimate picture of the system of child birth in operatio amongst the members of JAs class, dont you think.

We have mention of the fact that Mary,James second wife,had a monthly nurse( a practice I adopted I have to say!)and also that Miss Dubarry, Mary's old friend from Hurstbourne Tarrrant, was helping out, living with Mary to oversee teeh running of the household.

In Letter 12 we receive her story:

Miss Dubarry told me his( the baby-JW) eyes were large ,dark and hadsome.She looks much as she used to,is netting herself a gown in worsteads,and wears what Miss Birch would call a pot hat.A short and commodious history of Miss Debarry!
