There is this very strong feeling that the novels written by Jane really were based on real life experiences.
Persuasion.
Like Benwick and Fanny Harvilles, Tom Fowle and Cassandra got engaged but did not marry for financial reasons. Fanny dies in the book while in real life Tom Fowle did.
It was interesting to read about Shropshire too.
Then there is this "Mary and James/Charles" episode in letter number 10.
"James seems to have taken to his old trick of coming to Steventon in spite of Marys reproaches, for he was here before breakfast and is now pazing us a second visit."
I dont know why this reminds me of Charles visit to his family of two sisters and his wifes reproachings (though in this case she was pregnant)
Emma
All that talk about servants.
"Keeping house" like Emma. I like the remark- I alwazs take care to provide such things as please mz own appetite, which I consider as the chief merit in housekeeping. LOL!
This leads to the mention of a lot of food.
The Betty Londe visit - as already mentioned in a post, to be like Emmas not visiting Miss Bates often enough.
Talking about weather in letter11 she says - "imagination is everything"- like Emmas
And above all, the love and affection she shows to her nephew itty Dordy.
PS Please dont mind the weird writing. My computer is playing up and all the symbols are misplaced. While I have found some in other places, I cant find the apostrophy, it gives a dash now. :-(
I think its going to crash.
