shewed a letter received from friend Written by Carolyn Ruth (9/1/2005 10:58 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I have also wandered about that letter,, penned by Janine B

JA says the letter was in answer to one Mrs L had written to recommend Mrs R's nephew at Cambridge. (clearly not from TL, IMO) Towards the end of that letter is the mention of Mrs. Austen et al. Unless this is all written in code, the letter seems to be from the friend not the nephew.
