Doesn't it strike you that the children, CEA and JA, rather than the parents, one of whom is a Minister, would write the letter of condolence to the Walters. Maybe it is because Phily was J and C's age and friend? Anyway, the letter is so lovely- simple and direct and thoughtful- letting Philly know they want to hear from her and are concerned for her, but releasing her from an obligation to sit down and write them immediately.
