It certainly does continue   Written by JulieW (8/31/2005 3:17 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yes, apparently it continues today, penned by Line
Are you new?

I have to say HRH has a rather stingy reputation at home.....:-P

I have always left a tip for staff at country houses in which I ahve sayed. It is very much expected. In a quiet way.But you would be thought poorly of if you neglected to do it.

To try to keep this on topic and in pespective, it is probably an old hangover of the giving of " vails" which was a custom of tipping the upper household servants.

Luckliy for JA the habit of servants "ambushing " guests by lining up in the halll and beign abusive to those who did not tip ahd long disocninuted by this time. So even if she left teh " wrong" ammount, she would not find her clothing strewn all over teh gravel of the drive at Rowling....the result of Richis being dissapointed ;-)
