Purple muslin?   Written by JulieW (8/30/2005 1:13 p.m.)

Are you new?

When I read JAs descritption of Miss Fletchers dress in letter 6 ,I did think,YUK.

Then I found this ilustration in the book Revolution in Fashion, produced by the Kyoto Fashion Institute in Japan.

It made me change my mind...I want that dress!

The dress in question fits JA'[s time line exactly.it is a French dress circa 1790-95.And though this dress is made of fine silk drugget not muslin I wonder if Miss Fletchers dress was similar?
