This is how you would pronounce Goodnestone Park,near Wingham in Kent, the home of the family of Edward Austen Knight's fisrt wife ,Elizabeth.

JA probably never slept here,but as we know from letter 5 she did attend at least oen ball there.

As you can see, it was and luckily ,still is a beautiful place.

if you click on the link it will take you to the website for the gardens which are open to the public, and well worth a visit.

Elizabeth's fathr Sir Brooke Bridges was teh chap who swept away the old fashiioned formal gardens around the hosue and replaced it with a landscaped park.....shades of Southerton and Ye Falllen Avenues?I don't think so,frankly,but its a thought to bear in mind.;-)
