did have a problem in relation to inheriting the Chawton estate.So this could and did cast a pall over his good fortune.Perhaps this explains it....

I'm not sure Elizabeth did not get on with Jane or Cassandra.Casssandra helped out with her children,and both aunts seems to have had goofd relationships with the children.In the later leters JA makes kind remarks about Elizabeh,so who knows?
