Like Emma.   Written by Mandy N (8/29/2005 5:32 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Word pictures, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

As the heroine watched the small happenings in a village street reflected,
'A mind lively and at ease, can do with seeing nothing, and can see nothing that does not answer.'

This also seems an apt comment on her creator, Jane. Her letters record small happenings or domestic details which transform into little images of her life.

I rather like:

-'Tell Mary that I make over Mr Heartley & all his Estate to her for her sole use and Benefit, & not only him but all my other Admirers into the bargain'.

I'm almost reminded of the second line in P&P, '...he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters'. ;)
