Good point   Written by Cheryl (8/28/2005 4:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I thought it was more affectionate, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

] Would Jane continue to joke about him through this letter if Cassandra had really scolded her

Jane had such a high opinion of Cassandra, that you're probably right, that she wouldn't want to do anything that would make Cassandra really displeased with her.

I have somehow, somewhere, picked up a negative impression of Cassandra, as a rather severe, no-nonsense person. I'm not sure where it came from - I know Jane adored her, and Jane was not one to bestow her affections undeservedly - but I'm hoping that going through the letters will help me understand where this impression comes from and perhaps change it. ;-)
