...of her as having ambitions to be recognised as a good writer first. I do love the way it brings her voice alive, like you say. It sort of needs to be said or imagined being said out loud to bring out the meaning.

I am practising saying out loud so as to be able to baffle payroll next time I phone them! 'I hope that pecuniary emolument has not been delayed by the bank holiday' perhaps?!
