Are you new?

I don't know if my feelings for JA are something one can associate with her, but I feel sort of sad.


She herself would not have approved of my sentiments I know.

That she is very much attracted to Tom Lefroy is clear.

I found it very endearing that most of the time she refers to him as 'my friend'.

I suspect that she was overwhelmed by the thought of his departure and made light of it by writing 'My tears flow....'

He jumps into her thoughts without a link it seems, like from cabbages to kings - from pink persian' and 'white gloves' to 'my friend'.

The girlish eagerness to have him described to Cassandra by Charles makes me feel sad.

I think she is showing a concern for his health by referring to his 'light coat' in her own way.

I wonder if any future letter is going to tell us if she suffered from this disappointment, or hid it well enough.
