domino meant people out of costume. I thought they were dressed in one and imagined them with black rectangular cardboard cutouts with white dots. LOL!

Fortunately I was much amused by the description of the other costumes, the sun, sultana, flora etc. and with Charles' witty guessing.

Thanks teri-mc. I know what to think of a domino in future.

Except that I hope I don't think they are people out of costume when one is speaking of those black rectangular blocks with dots LOL!!
