Jack and Alice   Written by Cheryl (6/26/2006 2:02 a.m.)
Are you new?

Alice, our heroine, is about the only woman who remains unattached at the end of the story. Perhaps she was too far into her bottle to notice.

And how funny is it that there's no hint of Jack, "the Hero of this Novel, the brother of Alice, of whom I beleive I have scarcely ever had occasion to speak," (Ch 7) until two chapters from the end and then it's, oh well, he's dead anyway, so there's not much to tell. LOL!

What did you think of Jack and Alice? Their primary characteristic, and indeed that of their whole family, seem to be their propensity "to the Bottle & the Dice." (Ch 1) Alice's inebriated state is a running gag throughout - did you find it funny, or did it get old or worrisome?
