Are you new?

I am reading these scraps, and actually wondering where on earth JA's skill at plotting came from.

I can see her sense of humour and love of the absurd shining through, but there's a vast difference between these short stories, jumping about randomly from topic to topic, and the careful plotting of _NA_ or P&P or Emma, where every feature works.

I guess the 20-odd years must account for it.
