I have had another though about 'another' book.   Written by Reeba (6/20/2006 4:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, "Sir Edward in hopes of gaining an heir to.., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

Did any one else start reading L&F thinking one is going to read all about Laura's affairs with verious men, who would leave her broken hearted and she would be endlessly searching for love and 'the' man??

Well that's what I was expecting, after reading;
"...determined perseverance of disagreeable lovers.."
but it turned out that her sensibility allowed just one lover - Edward, and finally I don't know what advice or lesson she was giving Marianne.

This sounds just like how I felt after reading 'The Mysteries of Udolpho'.

There was nothing so great behind the black veil, there were no mysteries or ghosts at the castle, and everything turned out to be - well not worth all that suspense.

And I get the feeling that this was, in addition to other things, also a satire of that by JA in building up hopes for nothing.
